Atik Celebrates its 15th Anniversary

Message from ILPS General Secretariat to ATIK

General Secretariat, International League of Peoples’ Struggle

22 December 2001

The International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) extends its warmest and most militant greetings of solidarity to ATIK as it celebrates its 15th founding anniversary on December 22, 2001. On this occasion, we congratulate you for your past achievements and wish you more successes in the future.

The ILPS wants to take this occasion also to thank ATIK for its invaluable contribution to the long and sometimes difficult preparations for the holding of the First International Assembly (FIA) of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle. The success of the FIA would not have been assured were it not for the hard working people of ATIK and the funds and resources that ATIK so generously contributed.

ATIK has also been active in promoting the ILPS by carrying the banner of the League in several mass actions in Europe. The latest of these was the mass action in Brussels where the ATIK contingent marched behind the ILPS banner together with some Filipino and Belgian mass organizations that are also participating organizations of the League.

The interests of migrant workers which ATIK is fighting for is also one of the 18 concerns of the ILPS. This concern acquires an urgent dimension today in the wake of the September 11 events which the imperialists and the reactionaries all over the world are using as a pretext to curtail the civil liberties of suspect migrant communities and attack those who oppose their economic and social policies.

We must fight this new attack of the imperialists and reactionaries against the people. We must strengthen the unity and cooperation of the oppressed workers and people all over the world to oppose imperialism and reaction.

Long live ATIK!

Defend migrant rights against imperialist and reactionary attacks!

Long live international solidarity!
