Lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgendered (LGBT) people are primarily defined by class. While they come from various classes, the majority of them come from the exploited and oppressed classes in society. Besides the common economic and social problems they encounter in society, they are further burned by homophobia which is the particular form of oppression suffered by the LGBT community. They differ from the LGBTs belonging to the upper economic stratum who enjoy economic and political privileges and power, where some are even themselves instruments of oppression and exploitation against the working class.
With the inclusion of this concern, the role of the LGBT community has been recognized as a potent force in anti-imperialist formations and struggle, and the problem with homophobia is regarded as a peoples’ issue and not just the exclusive domain of the LGBT community.
In pursuit of the anti-imperialist struggle, the League resolves to:
Oppose the exploitation, oppression and discrimination of LGBT people.
Actively pursue the LGBT struggle within an anti-imperialist framework for the eventual emancipation of the majority from the tyranny of a few. Only the dismantling of the oppressive structures will provide the condition for the majority of the peoples, including the LGBT community, to live in a just and humane society.
Adhere to the justness of the struggle of the people’s movement for the attainment of a society free from all forms of exploitation, oppression and discrimination. We join forces with people who struggle for a free society, where every individual can be a productive force of society and reach for one’s full humanity as a person regardless of one’s sexuality.
