Victory to the democratic and anti-imperialist struggle of the Peoples of Nepal!

The International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS) extends its unreserved solidarity with the heroic and just struggles of the oppressed peoples of Nepal against imperialism, feudalism, fascism, Indian expansionism and all other reactionaries and resolves to support the rising people's democratic movement in Nepal.

The liberation struggle waged by the heroic people of Nepal is a conscious endeavor that symbolizes the interests and aims of all oppressed and exploited peoples of the world in their struggle against imperialism and reaction. The courageous struggle of the people of Nepal further inspires hope and determination in the ranks of the workers and the oppressed peoples of the world in their struggle and resistance to the current intensification of the imperialist offensive led by the US under the guise of ‘war on terrorism’.

In September 2001, an alternative state that will represent and protect the interests of the people of Nepal was founded. In a most democratic way, all sections of toiling masses and oppressed minorities participated and elected their representatives to the National Congress. In this historical congress “United Revolutionary People's Council” was set up and thus the task to establish a new democratic state in Nepal was initiated.

The reactionary state in power in Nepal, having failed to stifle the successful development of revolutionary war carried out by the people and resorting to various intrigues and devious incidents (on 1st of June 2001, with the collaboration of CIA and Indian expansionist state, King Birendra and his family were brutally murdered) in November 2001, declared a “state of emergency” and initiated an open and savage campaign of repression and brutality.

Having secured the backing of US and the British imperialists and Indian expansionist state, the reactionary Nepal government has fervently attacked the people, suspended all democratic rights and freedoms, intimidated opposition media, tortured and detained workers, and started an intensive campaign of terror against the progressive and democratic forces.

The imperialist powers and the Indian expansionist state have since rushed to save the puppet reactionary Nepalese state from certain collapse. While the imperialist powers are providing economic-political-military help to Nepal government, the Indian expansionist state has dispatched its troops to the borders ready for an immediate occupation of Nepal. It is under such conditions that Sher Bahadur Deuba, the prime minister of Nepal is currently on a visiting tour of Washington and European countries in order to beg for a massive military and financial assistance to crush the popular people's democratic movement.

The ILPS salutes and supports the United Revolutionary People's Council that was elected with the free will of the oppressed peoples of Nepal and calls upon all oppressed masses, progressive-democratic institutions and anti-imperialist forces of the world to recognize, defend and support the democratic and free will of people of Nepal and the alternative state system that has recently been established.

In February 2002, the International Coordinating Committee of the ILPS, adopted a resolution in support of the new democratic movement for national liberation and democracy in Nepal and condemned the massacres, mass-rape, burning and looting of villages carried out by the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) and other paramilitary and police forces in that country. The ICC resolution additionally called on the Nepalese authorities to immediately end the state of emergency and the deployment of RNA and paramilitary forces; abrogate the so-called anti-terrorist ordinance; release all political prisoners and prisoners-of-war; and account for the “disappeared” persons.

The ILPS, an international alliance of over 230 mass organisations from 40 countries of the world calls on all its member ,p>rganizations, and all other democratic and anti-imperialist forces to mobilize their forces and to come together to express the solidarity of the people's of the world with the heroic people's struggle in Nepal and further to protest against the imperialist powers headed by US and British imperialism, Indian expansionism and the reactionary state in power in Nepal.

At a time when all reactionaries of the world are mounting their efforts to defeat the heroic Nepalese people's liberation war and to eliminate the New Democratic power, the ILPS urgently invites all democratic and anti-imperialist forces across the world to join in forming and coordinating an international solidarity campaign with the people of Nepal (contact nepal@ilps2001.com) and to intensify all efforts to resist the ominous imperialist designs in the region.

Long Live International Solidarity! Long Live the New Democratic Power of Nepal People! Imperialism and Indian Expansionism, Hands off Nepal! Down with imperialism, fascism and all reaction! Victory to the democratic and anti-imperialist struggle of the Peoples of Nepal!
