The International League of People’s Struggle extends its all-out support to the working people of America who will go out into the streets in Washington D.C. in an action called Million Workers March on October 17, 2004 to protest the Bush administration’s war in Iraq and its attacks on the workers’ rights and living conditions.
We are inspired by the growing militancy of the workers in the US in raising their voices against the policies of the Bush government that benefit the big monopoly corporations but bring only hardships and suffering to the American workers and their families. The workers are fed up with being lied to. They are fed up with being betrayed. They are now determined to raise their voices and fists in resistance.
George W. Bush, the great Vietnam war dodger, is sending the sons and daughters of ordinary American families to die in a foreign land where they are not wanted. The lies about weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein’s ties to Al Qaeda have all been exposed to the American people and to the people of the world. That this war is all for the benefit of the American oil giants and the corporations belonging to the military industrial complex such as Dick Cheney’s Halliburton and company is now clear for everyone to see.
The American workers are speaking out: "Our nation faces growing…unemployment, declining wages & benefits…crumbling health care & educational systems, cuts in veterans benefits……Massive military spending…is creating massive…deficits and huge cuts in state public services……This crisis is a product of the Bush Administration’s policies…of military intervention abroad and attacks on working peoples’ rights……Only corporations and the wealthy have benefited. We cannot solve these…problems without addressing US foreign policy……Based on deception, lies and false promises…the Bush Administration launched its…war against Iraq……More of our soldiers… have died…than [in] any other war since Vietnam…”
They have issued these calls: Bring the troops home now! For money & for jobs not war! For a living wage! Against layoffs, union busting, & for workers´ rights! For the rights of immigrant workers! Because young people need jobs not jails! To end the occupation of Iraq! To defend civil rights!
The International League of Peoples’ Struggle calls on its participating organizations to support the Million Workers March by sending messages of solidarity and initiating counterpart actions in their own countries. We call on all people of goodwill to support this worthy cause. #
