The International League of Peoples' Struggle extends its warmest greetings of solidarity and congratulations to the participants and organizers of “Laws, Labels, and Liberation: the Case of Professor Jose Maria Sison”. It is befitting that your conference, delving into the case of Professor Sison, is being held under the auspices of the International League of Peoples' Struggle.
Firstly, Professor Sison is an important part of the League. It is necessary that we defend his democratic rights against the current attempts of the U.S., its partner imperialist countries like Canada, and its puppet regime the Philippines, to demonize Professor Sison. Professor Sison was key in the conception and forming of the League. He led the League as the Chairman of the League's International Initiative Committee. A veteran theorist and revolutionary, Professor Sison ensured that the League was founded with the vision of promoting, and developing the anti-imperialist and democratic struggles of the people of the world against the ideological, political, military, economic, social and cultural domination and attacks of imperialism and reaction. Professor Sison continues to provide the League with this clear understanding and political guidance as the League's General Consultant as we prepare to convene our League's Second International Assembly.
Secondly, Professor Sison symbolizes an extremely important national liberation movement fighting to free the Philippines of U.S. imperialism. It is necessary that we defend his democratic rights and commit genuine support and solidarity to the Filipino people in their just struggle for national and social liberation. The League stands and fights for the cause of national liberation, democracy and social liberation against imperialism and all reaction.
The Philippine revolution is gathering ever-deepening and widening support and energy among the growing ranks of poor peasants, workers, youth, and broad sectors of Philippine society. It is striking lethal blows against the U.S. imperialism as the U.S. is experiencing an ever-worsening crisis and it lashes out at any force that threatens its hegemony. It is no wonder that the U.S. tries to demonize Professor Sison as a “terrorist” and delegitimize the Filipino people's struggle for national liberation with “anti-terrorist” hysteria.
It is for these reasons that we wish this conference utmost success. We are confident that your discussions and action planning will be fruitful and will challenge U.S. imperialism as the number one super-terrorist in the world.##
