ILPS RENEWS CALL TO ACTION ON MARCH 20
See Call to action and sign the online pledge form
We, the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS), hereby renew our call to our more than 250 participating organizations and their partner organizations the world over to carry out mass protest actions on March 20, the Global Day of Action, against the US-British invasion and occupation of Iraq and against all acts of aggression and intervention by US imperialism in other countries.
As the day approaches to mark the start of the US war of aggression against Iraq on March 20, all ILPS participating organizations must intensify their efforts to make a distinctive contribution to the tidal wave of resistance of the people of world against US imperialism and report their plans and activities to the ILPS General Secretariat.
It is utterly outrageous and revolting that the US and the British governments have all along been engaged in lies, by claiming that Iraq had terrorist connections with Al Qaida, had weapons of mass destruction and was an imminent threat to these imperialist governments, in order to conjure a false basis for their barbaric “pre-emptive war” and for the seizure of the oil and other resources of Iraq.
The imperialist aggressors attacked and invaded Iraq precisely because they were sure that this country had no weapons of mass destruction and was no imminent threat after more than twelve years of US-British bombings, economic sanctions and causing the death of more than 500,000 children.
But now the US and British imperialists are totally exposed as liars, aggressors, massacrists and violators of the UN charter and all international law on the question of national sovereignty, war and peace. Moreover, the broad-based resistance of the Iraqi people are inflicting heavy casualties on the imperialists and their puppets and are striving to make the occupation unprofitable.
Hell-bent on using the false pretence of anti-terrorism to engage in imperialist expansionism, the US is whipping up war hysteria, generating a war economy and trampling down upon the democratic rights of the American people and the people of the world. It is taking advantage of its own imperialist allies and is conspicuously coming into contradiction with some of them.
It is trying to deepen and widen its domination of Asia, Africa, Latin American and the former Soviet bloc countries. It is escalating its aggression and intervention in countries where there are oil and strategic natural resources to be plundered, such as those in the Middle East, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa.
But the people are intensifying their resistance. They are waging all forms of struggle. It is the internationalist duty of the ILPS to join up with all the popular forces that are committed to condemn imperialist greed and terror and to fight for national and social liberation.
The ILPS hereby directs its participating organizations to take the initiative in launching mass protest actions wherever possible. It must make a distinctive contribution to the Global Day of Action but it must always unite, cooperate and coordinate with all other organizations that are committed to rise up in protest against US imperialism and its allies on March 20.
All of us must seize every day, every hour and every minute in order to arouse and mobilize the broad masses of the people against US imperialism and its puppets for the appointed Global Day of Action. The resounding success of this will inspire greater mass actions for the liberation of the people from the clutches of US imperialism and its puppets.#
