Support Palestinian hunger strike

Condemn Israeli atrocities

The International League of Peoples' Struggle denounces Israeli authorities for blatantly ignoring the legitimate demands of Palestinian and Arab prisoners currently being held in Israeli prisons.

Since August 15th, Palestinian prisoners have been on a hunger strike calling for an improvement in their conditions of confinement.

The prisoners' legitimate demands include an end to restrictions on family visits; an end to the prisons' policy of collective punishment; and an increase in the quantity and nutritional quality of food ration given to prisoners.

Since this defying act was launched by Palestinians in four Israeli prisons, the Israeli government has blatantly ignored their demands and has even brazenly claimed that they will accept the death of these prisoners before conceding to these demands.

This shameless disregard for the Palestinian prisoners' demands and lack of concern for their health and life is characteristic of the Israeli government's policy towards the entire Palestinian people and their just demands.

Bolstered by the unwavering moral and military backing of the U.S. government, the fascist Israeli state led by Sharon is free to unleash its genocidal military campaigns in order to subjugate the Palestinian people. From endless military operations against the Palestinian people in refugee camps and neighborhoods to the apartheid wall intended to shut out Palestinians from their land and livelihood, the U.S.-Israeli terror over the Palestinian people is relentless.

In return for its support, U.S. imperialism is guaranteed a solid partner in its endeavor to establish its hegemony in the Middle East and help secure its position over the rich oil reserves in the region.

While today the Palestinian people are paying the ultimate price of this imperialist aggression their legacy of resistance and revolutionary mass struggle has foiled and continues to defeat all attempts of the Zionists and their imperialist masters to subjugate and contain the people in the middle east.

The Palestinain people's 55 year struggle against the imperialist back Zionist occupation of their land and their heroic resistance in the face of untold crimes and atrocities by the fascist Israeli state, as symbolized in the 2nd Intifada, continues to inspire oppressed people all over the world to take up resistance against our common enemies.

The ILPS and its over 200 participating organizations stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their valiant struggle to rid themselves of their oppressors.

The ILPS calls on its participating organizations and other progressive individuals and organizations to support the legitimate demands of the Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike.

We take this opportunity to call on all democratic and anti-imperialist forces around the world and all those who joined the call to action on March 20th on the first anniversary of US -UK occupation of Iraq and all those who stand in solidarity with the just struggle of the Palestinian people to begin preparations for a week of international action against imperialist aggression, occupation and plunder commencing on Saturday September 25 -October 2. This will coincide with the 4th anniversary of the 2nd Intifada on the 28th September.

Declaring our readiness to collaborate and jointly coordinate the widest participation in these actions, we invite all ILPS participating organizations to either join any existing plans or to initiate solidarity actions in solidarity with the people of Palestine and Iraq in each country.

The ILPS declares, with all its resolution, to continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for national freedom and democracy.
